Back in London!!

It wasn’t even a month since I returned from London and I was heading back. Yoohoo!!!
My program and flights were booked in half an hour and 11 hours prior to reporting time. Yippy!! I was so excited about traveling again. So much happened, so fast, I just couldn’t take it. I was going back to London again for a week.

Ooph!! I was back in my room packing again. Calling my friends and canceling prior commitments for the next day and sounding all important about going. It was absolutely exhilarating. I still couldn’t believe that I was flying out the next morning.

Even the 9 and a half hour flight wasn’t enough to make me feel like I was back again. The week was so relaxed unlike my previous stay. I got a lot of time to think and just be.

Things that I have read about and keep hearing got re-affirmed. There is no end to human desire. The more you have, the more you want. The human mind never lets you be at peace with what you have. And the best part about it all is that actually what you have is more than enough for you to be happy. Contentment is a state mind and has nothing to do with how much money you have in your bank account or the no. of houses and cars. You can be the happiest with just the basic necessities of life. No wonder there is repeated mention of simple living to attain higher level of existence. People looking to achieve that are always striving to exist in moderation and identical with nature.

The materialistic world is endless and so are our desires. It is the easiest thing to be taken by all the things that you can possess if you have enormous wealth. But unfortunately that can’t get you happiness. Someone who is happy is happy under all circumstances. Therefore it is of no significance to him of what his surroundings are. And this leads him to be dependant on nothing but himself. I think that is an idyllic situation to be in.

I also once again learnt in my life that whatever happens, it happens for the good. Shakespeare said “Nothing is good or bad, just thinking makes it so”. You begin to understand that most of us are not even in a position to judge what happens to us because we do not know what the larger picture is. And therefore we should accept whatever happens to us keeping in mind that there is always something better in store for us.

The short and sweet trip has great significance for me as I got time to reflect and contemplate. Not to miss that it was an excellent holiday.

You have put your thoughts very well. I do agree with you that there is no end to materialistic desires. The funny part is that once you get what seems so important to have is no longer the same once you get it! I am glad you had a good time in London. Still getting over the way your plan was made... :) Hope to serve you with the great Mexican food we ate in London on both our trips there "together". You should seriously think of writing a book.
